Year 6 is taught by Mrs Fitzgerald and Mrs Wilde, supported by Mrs Mangan and Mrs Hills.

Mathematics
Maths will focus on SATs questions. Pupils will take past tests and review any gaps. They will have a booklet with examples of how to answer questions, please support your child by reading it with them. Maths Club will be start next week. Look out for the letter with further details.
Science
Science will be blocked in the Summer Term.
English
Pupils will continue to develop skills in reading, writing and grammar in accordance with the English curriculum and their personal targets. Pupils will be working on a variety of spelling strategies. Our focus text will be ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar. We will be writing a variety of non-fiction pieces based around the text, including letters, diary entries, comprehension tasks and newspaper reports.
PE/Art/Design and Technology
PE will usually take place on Wednesday. However, please ensure that your child has a PE kit in school throughout the week and it is only taken home at weekends.
In Art, pupils will learn about photography.
In Design and Technology, pupils will plan, design and make a meal in cookery.
PSHE/RE
Through circle time activities the children develop their social skills, their awareness of the feelings and beliefs of others and have an opportunity to discuss their concerns with the class.
This term the children will learn about Christianity and Buddhism. They will conduct research into the key beliefs of both religions.
History
Pupils will explore some of the main changes in Britain during the Victorian Era. They will learn about chronology, form timelines of key events and make glossaries of important time-related vocabulary. The class will research what it would have been like to be a Year 6 pupil from each decade and explore the exciting advancements within technology.
Computing
Pupils will learn how to use the different features of PowerPoint and Excel culminating in giving a multimedia presentation to the class related to the topic.
Geography
Geography will be blocked in the Summer Term.
