End of Term Letter 17.7.20

Dear Everyone,

Well, we have reached the end of the term-that-never-was; and the end of the academic year 2019-2020. I don’t think that any of us will forget this year in a hurry! Who could have imagined on the first day of the school closure – Mon 23rd March- that we would not fully re-open for another 5 months?

I really hope that you feel we have supported you all throughout this time. As a staff, we made a decision to do what we thought was best for WOODHALL children and families, and not necessarily what every other school was doing. We have tried to be available to all of you for advice, concerns, to answer questions (sometimes just to say hello, because that’s what was important) as well as continue to provide high-quality home-learning for the children.

The strength of the Woodhall community has shone through this very difficult time. From the very beginning, you have all been so resilient and have adapted to the many changes that have taken place. You have looked out for each other. Your positivity (even when you weren’t feeling it!) and good humour have been amazing; second to none. Thank you!

We have always known how courageous, kind, determined and completely brilliant the children of Woodhall are, and the past months have proved this. We are so proud of them and can’t wait to welcome them back to continue on their learning journeys.

I also want to say an enormous and heartfelt THANK YOU to the staff team here at Woodhall. Whether in school or working remotely, they have gone over and above to make things happen, and to provide the very best support. And on top of all that, they have been clearing, cleaning, reviewing, training, sorting, writing, planning and a million other things so that we are ready for September. They really are a fantastic team and, as I have said before, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else (well…maybe a beach somewhere tropical, but only for a couple of weeks!!)

A special thanks to Sue and Pete, who have been here every single day, come rain or shine, plague and pestilence…they are worth their weight in gold.

So, that’s it from me for the time being. I will keep updating Facebook over the holidays and, as always, if you have any questions or worries, just send me a message or email me on head@woodhall.herts.sch.uk. I can’t promise to solve everything but I will try my best to help!

Have a lovely summer. Stay safe, take care and I cannot wait to see everyone in September!

Miss Lake
