Inset day for teaching staff No children in school today.
Don’t forget that Friday 17th May is our very special Cup Final Day! Come to school in your Watford kit or the team colours (or your PE kit). We are having our very own Woodhall Cup tournament in the morning followed by our WFC-themed raffle, our Cup Final song ‘We’re All Standing’ and then an afternoon, outdoor disco!
To listen to our song please go to https://twitter.com/woodhallcupfin1 (we hope to have it up on our website soon!)
And to sing along…
Well you know that we’ve been here before-
Our first time in the final 1984.
And we know that Graham Taylor would be proud to see
Us beat Wolves and now we are heading back to Wembley.
So you know the Golden Boys are back,
Playing in the final yellow, red and black
With a flair for style and a touch of class,
The Watford team can’t wait to win upon the Wembley grass!
Don’t you know we’re all standing and we’re feeling proud,
Cheering them at Woodhall School –
We will all be shouting loud!
We’re all standing and we’re full of joy,
Singing for the Golden Boys,
Singing loud for captain Troy.
We’re all standing yeah-yeah-yeah
We’re all standing yeah-yeah-yeah
You know City? They are going to fail!
Harry Hornet’s got a sharp sting in his tail,
With Garcia in charge, they will be oh so sorry –
We’ll send them back to Manchester and just in time for Corrie!
Once again, we will be giving children the opportunity to enter Radio 2’s ‘500 Words’ competition this year. Tomorrow, we will have a special assembly where children will listen to some of the amazing stories written by last year’s winners. Thursday 14th February will be our 500 Words Day, where every class will be busy writing their stories, which we will enter into the competition via school. In the meantime, why not get planning?! There are some great resources and ideas on the website https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00rfvk1
Perhaps this year we’ll have a winner from Woodhall!
Our ‘Diary Dates’ page has now been updated with events for this term. Please keep checking, as we are adding new dates all of the time! Thanks.
As many of you know, over the Christmas holidays, one of our amazing pupils was taken suddenly and very seriously ill with a stroke. Thankfully, she is now making a good recovery. There is a long road ahead of her, but with the support of all of her family and friends, and her own AMAZING strength and sheer willpower, we know that she will get there.
This week, the children have been busy making cards and banners to send. However, they would like to do more than this! All of the children and staff at Woodhall would like to do some fundraising for Great Ormond Street Hospital (and the Koala Ward in particular), where our pupil has been given the very best of care.
Her fabulous big sister has been busy organising, and thought that we could hold a ‘crazy clothes day’, wearing her sister’s favourite colours…pink and purple!
So, next Friday (January 18th), this is exactly what we will do! All of the children (and staff!) can come in their craziest pink and purple outfits. We are asking for a donation of £1 per pupil (although if you wish to donate more, all funds will be gratefully received).
On the same day we are also holding a cake sale, so get baking everyone! Please bring your cake donations to the school office (or to your child’s class) either on Thursday 17th or the morning of Friday 18th.
We are looking forward to giving our friend a huge smile with all of our crazy pink and purple photos!
We hope that you have enjoyed a lovely Christmas break. School starts tomorrow (Tuesday 8th January) with our usual soft start. It has turned colder now; please make sure that children come to school with warm coats on. We are looking forward to the start of the new term!
Thanks to everybody who came along last Saturday to Woodhall’s Christmas Fair. The fair was a huge success and busy from start to finish! We will let you know the total amount that was raised as soon as possible. An especially huge THANK YOU to all of our ‘Friends of Woodhall’ who organised every aspect of the fair (from reindeer to refreshments); to all of the staff who gave up their Saturday to come and help; and to Santa, of course, who found a Woodhall window in his busy schedule! Our hamper raffle has proved extremely popular and we will be drawing winners on the evening of ‘Carols by Candlelight’; don’t worry if you are not there, because names are on tickets and we will save you a hamper should you win. Photos to follow. Please check the diary dates for all upcoming Christmas plays etc., and next term’s dates. Thanks.
It’s the last day of school today before we have a week off. We hope that you all have a lovely break, and don’t forget that Monday 5th November is a staff INSET day. Children need to return to school on Tuesday 6th November.
We have a half-term competition for the children…design a cover for our Christmas Fair lucky programme! Entries need to be on A4 paper (portrait) and have ‘Welcome to our Christmas Fair!’ written somewhere on them. All entries must be given to Miss. Lake by Friday 9th November. Good luck, everyone!
Our Harvest Festival will be taking place on Friday 26th October (Nursery and Reception will be holding Harvest workshops on Tuesday 23rd October) Woodhall’s chosen charity is our local food bank – we are collecting non-perishable items such as tins, bottles, packets and toiletries. Whatever you can donate will help somebody in short-term crisis. Please send in any donations from Wednesday 17th October 2018 – children can place items in the Harvest Box (in the entrance area) Thank you.
If you are experiencing difficulties in providing food for your family at the moment, please come and speak to us. We will put you in touch with people that will support you
