Religious Education at Woodhall
RE (Religious Education) not only teaches children about different world religions (like Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism) but it also, helps children learn from religions as they see how faith shapes the lives of other groups and individuals, whilst simultaneously developing their own sense of self and their own spiritual and moral compass. We aim to promote respect and open-mindedness towards those with other faiths and beliefs and believe it is our role to ensure pupils are being inquisitive, respectful and open-minded. This in turn helps the children to foster respect, empathy and critical thinking skills. A robust RE curriculum should also build children’s sense of identity and belonging through self-awareness and reflection. It should raise questions about life’s mysteries and allow children an opportunity to explore different viewpoints and come to their own conclusions, drawing on their own experiences and beliefs. To learn more about the intent, implementation and impact of our Religious Education Curriculum and see how learning progresses throughout the key stages, check out our RE Statement and the Hertfordshire Agreed Syllabus below.
